There is a book entitled "History of Clinch Co, Georgia" which has significant info on our Dame families. It includes New Hampshire family, Virginia family, and GA family. Also includes immigrant info. It begins on page 164 and ends on page 167.

This book states the Dames came "from Cheshire England where they have been freeholders since the reign of Edward the Fourth, a period of about five hundred years." "Where they formerly lived is now known as the parish of 'Leighton-Cain Minshal Vernon' in the town of Nautwick in Chesire."

It says in this book that "some went to Holland in the 17th century during the Puritan troubles and established the Van Dam family, some to France, establishing the Daime family, one becoming a French general and part coming to America."

There is a record of a Thomas Damme b. 1494 d. 1648. Yes, it's true. He lived to be 154 y.o. He is buried in the churchyard of the parish church of Church Minshal near Middlewick in Cheshire. His wife is also buried there. The register still exists that recorded his death.

I found the book in the LDS church library in Mesa, Arizona.
