Notes for Israel CONARY
This summary has been derived from information in Dr. H. W. Small’s ‘History of Swan’s Island’ published in 1898.

Israel Conary came to Swan’s Island in 1820, and settled on a lot of land known as City Point. His wife was Martha Gott. He afterwards moved to Black or Conary’s Island, where he lived some years. Later he came back to this town and bought a part of the lot then owned by Joseph Gott. He built the house where David Stanley now resides. After having reared their family here they moved to Blue Hill where Mr. and Mrs. Conary died.

Mr. Conary was a son of Thomas Conary who emigrated to this country from Ireland, and was the first settler on Conary’s Island in Eggemoggin Reach.
